Heritage Solar Slate
Heritage Solar Slate
The problem with most solar panels is that generally, they are not aesthetically pleasing. In fact, some have labelled eyes sores. It is a problem that some say have hampered solar energy’s ability to be embraced by the public, with few installing panels on their homes.
If solar energy is to be truly embraced by the public, then panels are going to have to rapidly become more attractive or blend in more on people’s homes. This is the idea behind Heritage Solar Slate, who have designed
solar panels to resemble traditional roofing slates.
The solar slate not only looks like traditional slate, allowing for a home’s style to not be compromised, but like traditional solar panels they are durable and weatherproof and feature no external parts that can be damaged. As such, they need little maintenance and can be easily installed by any engineer due to their ‘fit-and-forget’ design. The PV modules can also be recycled, so that the solar slate’s usage can be extended even further.
Heritage Solar Slate hope that their product will not just be used by home owners and businesses, but by conservation groups such as The National Trust, who are aiming to reduce the carbon footprint of their many attractions but without compromising the historical and stylistic integrity.
